Against the backdrop of sharp fluctuations in Pr-Nd alloy prices and increasingly intense back-and-forth negotiations between upstream and downstream, the industry urgently needs a barometer that can accurately capture real-time trading dynamics. After a period of accumulation by the SMM Rare Earth team, the SMM Rare Earth Database is launching the Pr-Nd alloy transaction sentiment factor, scheduled to go live on September 1, 2025, providing the industry chain enterprises with quantifiable, traceable, and early-warning sentiment references.
I. Data Highlights
1. Three-dimensional factors, comprehensively depicting market transaction willingness dynamics
Upstream Pr-Nd alloy transaction sentiment factor: willingness to sell of metal enterprises and traders
Downstream Pr-Nd alloy transaction sentiment factor: purchase willingness of magnetic material enterprises and traders
Final Pr-Nd alloy transaction sentiment factor: combined purchase willingness after weighting the respective weights of metal enterprises, traders, and magnetic material enterprises
2. Professional scoring, weighted by capacity/procurement volume
The analyst team conducts daily targeted communications with enterprises, scoring the willingness to sell/buy on a scale of 1-5 (1 = few inquiries, individual rigid demand; 5 = panic buying, spot cargo instantly sold out), and then weighting these scores according to the enterprise's capacity/procurement volume, ensuring the factor represents the mainstream of the industry.
3. High-frequency release, leading the market trend
To ensure the timeliness and continuity of the data, the Pr-Nd alloy sentiment factor is updated at 12:00 every trading day.
II. Application Scenarios
Metal Enterprises: Adjust the selling pace based on downstream purchasing sentiment to avoid the risk of low-price dumping.
Magnetic Material Enterprises & Traders: Identify upstream selling signals to optimize the procurement window.
